I don't think the powers of the world or the kingdom of darkness give two hoots if we claim Jesus is our saviour. But when we assert that he is Lord - not only of us but of them as well - that's a whole new kettle of damnation. We're going to stay in this conversation a while, so we'll unpack it here a bit more shortly but in the meantime, here's the notes from our first two sessions.
A couple of weeks ago we began what is perhaps the most important discussion we've had so far. In modern Christianity Jesus is celebrated as the saviour of the world, the forgiver of our sins. But that is not how he is first introduced to us in scripture at all. The Shepherds/Astrologers/Wise Men come to pay tribute to the King of the Jews and the angels introduce Jesus as the Saviour/Messiah who is "Christ the Lord." I don't think the powers of the world or the kingdom of darkness give two hoots if we claim Jesus is our saviour. But when we assert that he is Lord - not only of us but of them as well - that's a whole new kettle of damnation. We're going to stay in this conversation a while, so we'll unpack it here a bit more shortly but in the meantime, here's the notes from our first two sessions.
